BIOGRAPHY
Jimmy LaValle, is a composer who crafts musical landscapes with synthesizers and effects to create a nuanced palette of textures and immersive atmospheres. His sonic creations defy easy categorization, skillfully blending soothing melodies with unexpected dissonance. Drawing inspiration from minimalist luminaries like Philip Glass, Brian Eno, and Cliff Martinez, LaValle has forged a distinctive method of adorning the sonic space in his music.
With over two decades of music, LaValle’s creative endeavors span film scoring, sound collage, and ambient electronic music. Touring globally as “The Album Leaf” he has delivered a diverse array of releases, including full-length albums, film scores, remixes, collaborative recordings, and EPs, showcasing his versatility since 1999.
LaValle’s notable contributions to the world of cinema encompass a spectrum of acclaimed films, including “Ovarian Psycos,” “Artist and Mother” by Joanna Sokolowski and Kate Trumbull-LaValle, and Blumhouse-produced “They Come Knocking” and “Baby Blue” directed by Adam Mason. His work on award-winning films like “The Endless,” “Synchronic,” and “Something In The Dirt,” directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, have played successfully at top tier festivals including Sundance, Toronto International, TriBeca, SXSW, Hot Docs, Fantastic Fest, Seattle, Edinburgh, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, as well as PBS’ Independent Lens.
